Sometimes you may find that you have a design file that contains library items (parts, symbols or footprints) that you don't have in your libraries. It may be a design from another Pulsonix user, or perhaps an old design that contains components that are no longer part of your library set.

The easiest way to 'recover' the library items from these designs is to use the 'Save To Library' command which is available from the right-mouse menu whenever you have any components selected. You can select as many or as few components as you wish, right-click and choose this command, and you will then be shown all the library data that is ready to be exported from the design into the libraries you choose. You can even choose to create new library files to hold the data from the design. You can also 'drag and drop' files onto the Library Manager, which will invoke the same 'design to library' dialog.

The other method of producing libraries from designs is to use the Import button on the Library Manager dialog. Choose the appropriate tab on the dialog that corresponds to the type of library data you wish to recover, click Import, and browse to the relevant file. This file can be any of the file types that Pulsonix can read, including any supported ASCII file formats from other EDA systems.
